Welcome from the Chair

On behalf of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE) and the Local Organizing Committee, it is with great honor that I extend an invitation to you to attend the 2026 CSCE Annual Conference, to be held in magnificent Quebec City from June 3-5, 2026.

The work of civil engineers is ever-present and enhances our lives. From the roads we travel on to the buildings we inhabit and work in, civil engineering plays a pivotal role in shaping our environment and elevating our quality of life. It is our duty as civil engineers to improve the human condition while honoring the context in which it is achieved: our cities and our heritage.

Our theme for 2026, "Tradition to Innovation," has been carefully crafted to celebrate our discipline’s capacity to create and adapt infrastructure, addressing today's challenges in harmony with its existing patrimonial and historical context.

The conference will provide an exciting opportunity to unite academics, researchers, and practitioners from across the nation and the globe in various fields of civil engineering. We will present, review, and debate recent achievements and innovative solutions, as well as address and define the challenges of the present and the future. This year's conference will feature specialty conferences in Structural, Transportation, Environmental, Hydrotechnical, and Materials. We invite industry professionals to take advantage of the exhibition facilities available during the conference.

Founded in 1608, Quebec City, one of the earliest cities in North America, is renowned for its rich history and vibrant culture. It is one of the few cities on the continent still encircled by stone walls, offering a rare glimpse into its past. The city is home to numerous historical landmarks, including the iconic Château Frontenac, the historic district of Old Quebec, and the Plains of Abraham. The conference venue, the Centre des Congrès de Québec, is located in the heart of Quebec City, just steps from the province’s National Assembly and from major attractions. Participants can take a stroll to enjoy the magnificent views of the St. Lawrence River and explore these attractions, providing delegates and their guests ample opportunities to savor the city's unique charm.

A variety of activities are also planned to facilitate networking with your peers and friends in the industry. We encourage you to make Quebec City your destination in 2026.

We look forward to welcoming you and extending our warm hospitality.

Best Regards,

Andre Bahous
