The 2026 CSCE Annual Conference in Quebec City will bring together researchers, practitioners, industry leaders, and policy makers to explore the latest advances and challenges across all fields of civil engineering. The technical program will feature specialty conferences, general civil engineering topics, and cross-cutting themes that highlight innovation, sustainability, resilience, and the future of our profession.
We invite abstracts from academics, engineers, contractors, technology providers, and stakeholders interested in sharing knowledge, exchanging ideas, and shaping the future of civil engineering practice in Canada and beyond.
Please ensure you have read the submission details below prior to submitting your paper, case study, or extended abstract.
Submission Details
Full Paper, Case Study, and Extended Abstract Submissions
We have created 3 distinct submission lengths (papers must be 6-10 pages; case studies, 4 pages; extended abstracts, 2 pages) designed to encourage participation from a broad range of contributors — from academic researchers to industry practitioners.
Authors are encouraged to select the format that best fits their work and objectives. The guidelines for each submission format (i.e. full paper, case study or extended abstract) are specified in the template document (provided below).
Full Paper
A full paper is a comprehensive presentation of original research, technical advances, or comprehensive reviews in civil engineering. Submissions must be 6 to 10 pages in length. Authors choosing this format should aim to provide a complete and polished contribution, written in a way that communicates both technical rigor and broader implications. Full papers are well suited for authors who wish to share detailed findings and position their work within the wider scholarly and professional conversation.
Case Study
Case studies highlight practical applications, innovative solutions, or lessons learned from real-world projects. Rather than emphasizing theoretical advances, this format values insight and reflection: what was done, what was observed, and what others can take away. Case studies are more modest in scope than full papers, but they carry significant value by documenting applied knowledge and professional experience. This submission format is limited to 3-4 pages and provide an opportunity for industry practitioners to share their valuable field experiences with the community in both written and oral form.
Extended Abstract
Extended abstracts provide concise descriptions of emerging ideas, technical notes, ongoing/early stage works or project overviews (2 pages maximum). This format is especially suitable for authors who wish to share work-in-progress or for industry contributions that do not require a full-length paper. Extended abstracts are ideal for presenting ongoing studies, smaller projects, or preliminary ideas, and they also serve authors who primarily wish to share their results through an oral presentation at the conference rather than a more detailed written contribution.
Details and Timeline
The paper review process will be completed in February 2026. You will be informed by e-mail of the review results at that time. All authors will be required to submit their final paper, case study, or extended abstract in PDF format by March 11, 2026. Final acceptance notifications will be provided by March 25, 2026.

Registration Requirements
At the time of paper, case study, or extended abstract submission, authors are encouraged to complete their conference registration. If unable to do so, authors must be registered by April 8, 2026, in order to be included in the technical program schedule. If an author’s paper is not accepted by the Technical Committee, a full refund of their conference registration will be issued. Note that authors are limited to two submissions per paid registration. For One-Day registrations, the selected day will be adjusted to align with the author’s scheduled presentation.
Proceedings and Publications
We are pleased to share that CSCE has negotiated a new publishing agreement for our conference proceedings with leading academic publisher, University of Toronto Press (UTP). Full papers will be published (including indexing) through UTP after the conference, following a proceedings review process completed by UTP.
In addition, all accepted papers, case studies, and extended abstracts will be included in the Conference Proceedings, distributed to attendees at the beginning of the conference.
Only submissions that are presented in-person at the conference and meet the Conference Proceedings requirements will be published.
