Biography

Tony Bégin graduated from the Sherbrooke University (UdeS) in civil engineering with a Master’s degree in structural dynamics in 1995.

He has cumulated over 30 years of work at Canam Group. Starting in 1995 as connection design engineer and being involved in the development of a business network of more than 120 steel fabricators in North America. Afterwards, he has overseen Canam’s design assist engineering services by visiting and interacting with over 100 structural engineering firms across Canada.

He has also developed a buy direct national account purchasing program at Canam with major retails including some Real Estate developers and repeat business key account contractors.

 

He is a member of the Innovating Commerce Serving Communities (ICSC) from which he has obtained successfully the international accreditation of Construction Development Professional (CDP). He is working on another accreditation called ENV SP related to the application of an ENVISION scorecard issued by the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI).

 

Tony Bégin is a Fellow member of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE). He started as a student member in 1989 up to the national presidency in 2015. He received many CSCE award recognitions over the years, The most prestigious was the « Walter Shanly Award » in 2017 for his exceptional contributions to support the research and practical applications of innovative practices in civil engineering.

 

He is the board chairman of the Steel Plus Network. He is an advisor board member of a construction company in Montréal.
